The optimal word count for a piece of written material on a website or blog is sometimes a source of difficulty for small and medium-sized business owners. The length of published posts has steadily increased over the last five years, according to data. And it appears that the shift is taking place for a good cause. By 2017, for instance, the typical article length was 500 to 1,000 words, with only about 10% of bloggers authoring long-form (2,500+ word) articles. Things, on the other hand, appear to be extremely different now. According to an Orbit Media study, 63 percent of bloggers create posts that are longer than 1,000 words, with 30 per cent to 36 per cent of those who go beyond 1,500 words claiming "good outcomes."
